I am, admittedly, a sucker for a chilling folk-rock song with wonderful quiver and quavers. I also have a musical affinity for young old-souls that, with intimate vocals, wear their heart on their sleeves. I've read critical reviews of this artist and song; overstated profundity marked by equivocal lyrics. Supposedly, the lyrics surround a disappointing transformative spiritual awakening sought in Nature. I think he gets a bit lost in clearly communicating an experience. Personally, I don't give a rat's ass. We get the jist of it, right? Conor O'Brien's voice and delivery is the main attraction of the acoustic version of this tune. Turn this up in your car and his voice will inevitably reverberate and the song will resonate with you throughout the day. Between his acetic tone and peaks that his voice manages to reach, you'll have it on repeat.
